Everything to gain

China and the United States as future partners

The author is concerned about divisiveness in the United States in an increasingly competitive world – both economic as well as strategic and military. The United States needs to focus on its economic and strategic challenges; it needs to become unified as a nation. The United States should explore and conclude a treaty of friendship and permanent peace with China. This book describes the opportunity that a treaty between the United States and China affords, details elements that such a treaty would include, and how to go about achieving it, a great achievement for both of our nations and to the entire world.

Dottie - A biography

Dottie

This is the story of my mother, an amazing woman, brilliant, headstrong, charming, and unforgettable for everyone who knew her. Born in 1901, Dorothy Janssen, known as “Dottie”, grew up in Great Neck, Long Island, New York when her father was enjoying success at Janssens Restaurant which he established in New York City in 1898.

My father Gerhard Wodtke was a man of great intelligence and deep culture, expert in art and history. He was permanently scarred by the recollection of his four years as a medical doctor in the German army first on the Russian front and later in the Battle of the Somme during World War I. He emigrated to the United States in 1926 and became an American citizen before he and my mother, who is celebrated in my book, “Dottie” married in 1933. I was born a year later.

The Swedish Tailor and Adventurer

The Swedish Tailor and Adventurer

This book is a translation in English from the original Swedish. It’s a vivid page turner, as Rolf Johansson describes the background of his grandfather Alfred’s family in Sweden, and Alfred’s decision to become a tailor and later emigrate to the United States. Alfred travels with his brother Martin and a friend, Joel, on board the liner Oscar II in the summer of 1903.

Peter Wodtke was the proofreader of the English translation in 2020 at the suggestion of Stephen Bartkus, then Curator of the Gunn Museum. This was Peter’s first adventure into publishing, and encouraged him to write books.

Available in paperback or on Kindle.
